Practice. Practice. Practice. That old adage is true. In order to learn what you want to learn you need to practice. For UniHoops, three types of practice are very relevant. These types are the need to practice juggling, to practice unicyling, and to practice basketball. There is a need to also add a fourth type of practice which is combining all three skills into one action. UniHoops got to this point through desire, dedication and practice. You can do what you want in the same way, go out and practice, practice, practice and practice.
Each individual skill that UniHoops demonstrates has taken many years of practice to learn. He began dribbling and playing basketball as soon as his ability to stand was sufficient enough to hold a ball. Basketball has been practiced for the better part of 30 years. He began juggling at age 10 and has been juggling off and on for 20 years. The unicycle came later at about age 17 but was put away until his late 20’s. Combining all these skills together has taken UniHoops months and months of dedicated practice.
UniHoops began juggling at age 10 with three tennis balls. The initial practice was throwing up 2 balls in one hand until that was mastered. Then three ball practice began. It took weeks to learn to juggle in the most basic pattern and then a wall was needed to keep from running forward to keep up with the balls.
UniHoops learned to juggle at age 10 in 1991 and learned basic unicyling at age 17 in 1998. These skills were not combined until February of 2011, when UniHoops began creating and training for halftime performing.
